The WYO Film Festival is proud to bring filmmakers from across the country to Sheridan, and while they’re here, we aim to connect them to the community in meaningful ways. Thanks to the generous support of the Homer and Mildred Scott Foundation, we were able to arrange an incredible educational outreach program featuring the filmmaking team behind the award-winning documentary WHY Dinosaurs? and Wyoming-based paleontologists.
Students at two Sheridan elementary schools experienced the thrill of exploring prehistoric life and the magic of filmmaking in a hands-on visit. During this interactive session, they learned about the fascinating world of paleontology, held real dinosaur bones, casts, and fossils, and gained insights into the creative process of making a documentary.
This outreach program, a first for the WYO Film Festival, exemplifies our mission: to connect people through storytelling and inspire new ways of thinking. Whether sparking a curiosity for science, igniting a passion for art, or encouraging future filmmakers, these experiences leave a lasting impact on young minds in Sheridan.
We are excited to continue building opportunities like this that bridge art, education, and community. For more details about the visit, check out the full story published by The Sheridan Press.
